"Parenting Classes"

Date, Time and Location: Tuesdays, August 10, 17, 24, 31, September 7, 14, and 21, 2010 at 6:00 pm -8:00pm, Families Plus!, 35 E. Church Street, 21701.

Summary: The “Systematic Training for Effective Parenting” program is an effective, seven-session, planned training curriculum that focuses on topics important to parents today. This course provides valuable tools which improve communication among family members and lessen conflict. This course has been approved for court ordered and mandated attendance. Pre-registration and $15 fee required.

"Parent/Teen Anger Management Group"

Date, Time and Location: August 9, 16, 23, AND 30, from 7-8:30 and will be a four week class, Families Plus!, 35 E. Church St., 21701.

Summary:
Families Plus! and Gaye Shelley, LCPC, will present an anger management group for parents and high school age students. The course will involve an interactive overview of anger management techniques, information and problem-solving skills. This is a great opportunity for teens and parents to work together to develop improved communication and build a stronger relationship. "Unraveling the Mystery of Wills, Trusts and Estates"

Date, Time and Location: August 17, 2010 at the NCI Conference Center room “A”, Ft. Detrick from 11:30 to 1:30.

Summary:
Can I do my “Will” on line? How do I leave my money to charity? If you have similar questions this is the program for you. David Wingate, PC, is a local attorney specializing in Elder Law and will discuss the basics of wills, trusts and estates. There will be time for discussion and a question and answer period. "Living with Alzheimer’s"

Date, Time and Location: Thursday, August 19, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, Families Plus!, 35 East Church Street, 21701.

Summary:
Did you know that there are 10 warning signs of Alzheimer's disease. Along with the advice of a doctor, these signs are critical to detecting Alzheimer’s. If you or someone you know is experiencing any of these signs, this program is a must. Mary Ann Farr, RN, Education Coordinator, Alzheimers Association, will help you through this maze of information. Early diagnosis gives you a chance to seek treatment and plan for the future. Co-sponsored by Families Plus! and the Ft. Detrick Exceptional Family Member Program.
