"Anger Management for Men"

Date, Time and Location:  Tuesdays, February 2, 9, 16, 23, 7 to 8:30 pm, Families Plus!, 35 East Church St., 21701. No fee.  

Summary: Uncontrolled anger can be unproductive and dangerous, especially when it becomes physical and is directed toward others. Men who learn to control their anger and use it in a positive fashion are more successful in reaching their goals. This multi-week group, led by Carmen Turner, LCSW-C, will explore the causes of anger in men and ways of controlling negative outcomes. Participants will be expected to attend all sessions and group size will be limited. Pre-registration is required.

"Workshop: An Overview of the Special Education Process"

Date, Time and Location: Wednesday, February 24 (snow date March 3), from 9 to 11 am, Frederick County Developmental Center, 350 Montevue Lane,Entrance C, 21702.

Summary:
This workshop is designed to give parents, or any interested party, a basic knowledge of the special education process. For parents who have never been to an IEP meeting or who have attended an IEP meeting feeling ill-prepared and unsure of themselves, this is a great workshop to start preparing you to be an informed partner in developing your child’s IEP. The presenters are Beth Rhodes, FCPS Special Education Elementary Instructional Coordinator, and Kelly Meissner, Parents Place Parent Educator. "Relationships 101 Class"

Date, Time and Location: Mondays, February, 1, 8, 15, 22, from 7 to 8:30 pm, Families Plus!, 35 E. Church Street, 21701. No fee.

Summary:
People puzzles can be solved. Communication is vital to making relationships work. You can get the key to understanding these people puzzles, Once you understand your style and others you will learn to relate according to the needs of each individual. The DISC model of human behavior will give you the tools to understand yourself and others better. This will make challenging relationships easier and good relationships great. "Personal Finance Workshop"

Summary:
Living on less income after the holidays? Finding a balance in your personal finances is the key to living on reduced income and making ends meet. Spectrum Federal Credit Union presents a workshop on finding “Balance” in your finances. Please call Families Plus! at 301-694-9002 to register or for more information. Individuals will also have the opportunity to work one on one with a banking specialist to identify specific needs. Co-sponsored by Families Plus! and The Religious Coalition.

"Parent/Child Anger Management Group"

Date, Time and Location: Thursdays, February 4, 11, 18, 25, from 7 to 8:30 pm, Families Plus!, 35 East Church Street, 21701. No fee.

Summary:
Families Plus! will present a multi-week anger management group for parents and elementary school age children. This group, led by Carmen Turner, LCSW-C, will involve an interactive overview of anger management techniques, information and problem-solving skills. This is a great opportunity for children and parents to work together to develop improved communication and build a stronger relationship. Pre-registration is required and group size is limited.
