Educational Programs:

Free and frequent programs on a wide range of issues such as parenting, relationships, stress, aging, retirement, money management, etc. presented by local professionals.

Collaborative programs with the Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) Counseling and School Support, Psychological Services and English as a Second Language programs for parents of school age children.

Special programs for families dealing with separation and divorce, special needs children, and/or adoption.

Approved training for child care providers.

Other Programs and Services

Teen childbirth preparation and parenting classes, four weeks, every other month. Prenatal education classes for expectant moms in collaboration with the Frederick County Health Department and Family Partnership.

Health and Safety Fair held yearly at different elementary schools and co-sponsored with the SafeKids Coalition and the FCPS.

Annual Children's Dinner Theater featuring a sit-down dinner for families followed by a live theatrical program.

Information and referral services
to help families and individuals find appropriate community resources to deal with challenges and change.

Publications including parenting "bookmarks," Are We There Yet? Where To Go and What To Do With Children In and Around Frederick County and A Flavor of Frederick, Volume I and II.

Support Groups

Adoptive Parents and Kids: for adoptive parents and young children. Co-sponsored by Adoptive Family and Friends.

Divorce Recovery Group: focuses on separation and divorce, the process of loss, the emotional roller coaster (including anger), that many people experience, the strategies for beginning the process of rebuilding. This multi-week group is for men and women of all ages who are going through the trauma of separation and divorce. The Divorce Recovery group meets in the Spring and Fall.

Children from Changing Families Support Group: A ten week series of classes for children from separated or divorced families. The group is open to children from kindergarten through 8th grade. In a safe, confidential setting children will be able to discuss the changes in their lives and their feelings about these changes. They will learn positive ways of coping with their new life. The group meets several times a year for ten weekly sessions. Some funding for this group is provided by the Frederick County Circuit Court.

Parent/Child Anger Management Group: A weekly anger management group for parents and children/teens. The course will involve an interactive overview of anger management techniques, information and skills. This is a great opportunity for children and parents together to develop improved communication and build a stronger relationship. The group meets several times a year.
